Your Pack will need a cheer to shout at the entrance of each station to let the Station Master know that you are there and ready to compete. Each station will have a maximum number of points to be earned, they will be awarded or subtracted at the Station Masters discretion.
Many of the stations will also have a Webelos Challenge, that can earn bonus points for the pack. You can also earn bonus points by being in a western costume. And, as always adult supervision is required, but adult participation will result in a trip to the rattlesnake pit.
Before check in please make sure that all of your Scouts are wearing proper footwear, with all the melting snow, we are anticipating a lot of mud. (And if there isn’t any, we are going to make some )
(We suggest that you prepare the boys for the stations without actually telling them what they are. Surprises are always fun.) Snake Bite Bluff: First aid knowledge and demonstration of first aid skills will be required. Webelos Challenge – demonstrate knowledge of “Hurry” situations.
Shot Gun Shuffle: Marksmanship; throwing environmentally friendly ammunition at stationary and moving targets. WC – “shooting” from a line further back.
Sarspirilla Saloon: Water relay requiring team work and creative thinking. WC – demonstrate good leadership skills.
Spittle and Whittle: Pocket knife safety, and demonsration. Scouts that have their Whittling Chip may bring a pocket knife, they must have their chip on them or they will not be able to use the knife. While older boys are demonstating whittling skills, younger scouts will be testing there skills with sunflower seeds and spittoon buckets. WC – teaching younger boys knife safety using cardboard knives.
Carpenters Camp: Using tools to fix a broken wagon board. Tools will be provided. WC – cutting the board with a saw.
Scoutsagone Trail: Obstacle Course. WC – demonstrate good leadership skills
Hitching Post: Knot tying, each level will have to tie the knots they are supposed to know for their rank. WC – erect a shelter using rope and blanket, use two half hitches and a taught line hitch or truckers hitch.
Cookie’s Campfire: Building a fire using tinder, kindling and fuel. Then putting the fire out. WC – get the fire to light without moving any of the wood.
Cruddy Creek Crossing: Get the wagon across water or mud or both. WC – demonstrate good leadership skills.
Riddle Me Bandit: Answer scout questions asked by the Riddle Bandit. Get the question right-earn a token, but get it wrong – and the bandit will lighten your load.
